well into the preparation phase for the trip to japan
right now and have been looking into different sort of travelling options. with mother russia being so close, you won’t be surprised that i came across vladivostok’s airlines website
. besides flights to west russia, siberia etc, they fly to/from osaka, tioama, niigata, and kitakyushu. not too bad… more interestingly, they ‘ve also got connections to major hubs in the asia pacific rim
(beijing, bangkok, seoul..). talked with h. about it on msn. [h. is my first point of call when it comes to russia and all things soviet
. sweet boy…]
-so what do u think of me sparing a weekend in vladivostok?
-u ‘ll get a big shock
-not because of the russians though
-no, no, no. even a moscovite would get a shock out there.
and he went on to explain me that vladivostok was out of reach for a long time during the soviet era as a major military complex and base of the pacific fleet.
-and how about safety? he asked
-good old soviet stuff. they ‘ve only got ‘sexy’ tupolevs!
-well, i d rather i die in the russian far east than in a morbid hospital in the west.
